The Ottawa Sooners are to announce some different community actions the will be helping out with this year.
1. Fundraiser – "Help Kids Be Kids" by Cédric Abu-ZahraOne of our dedicated athletes,
Cédric Abu-Zahra, is leading a heartfelt initiative to support children in need. As both a football player and a youth hockey/skating instructor, Cédric is passionate about ensuring all kids have the opportunity to learn, play, and grow in a safe and healthy environment.
To support this cause, he will be hosting a
"Funday" at Montana’s BBQ & Bar in Gloucester (1750 Ogilvie Rd, Ottawa, ON) on June 7, 2025. This event will feature music, games, face painting, and more—all aimed at raising funds to help children access opportunities they may not otherwise have.
We encourage everyone to spread the word and contribute to this incredible initiative. Donations can be made directly through the following link:

Help Kids Be Kids Fundraiser2. YMCA March Break Camps – March 11 & 12, 2025Building on the successful partnership from last summer, we are once again teaming up with the
YMCA Ottawa to support their March Break Camps. On
March 11 & 12, 2025, our athletes will be visiting two YMCA locations in Ottawa to engage with the kids, promote active living, and share the values of teamwork and perseverance.
3. Annual Clothing Drive – Ottawa Mission & Shepherds of Good HopeEach year, the Ottawa Sooners organize a
clothing drive to support individuals facing homelessness in our community. This past season, we successfully donated essential clothing items to
The Ottawa Mission and
Shepherds of Good Hope, helping those in need stay warm during the harsh winter months.
Ongoing & Future Community EngagementOur team remains committed to giving back year-round. Whether it's through youth mentorship, charity events, or other initiatives, we strive to use our platform as athletes to inspire and uplift the Ottawa community.
We appreciate your support and look forward to continuing to represent the CJFL and OFC both on and off the field. Please feel free to share these initiatives within your networks, and let us know if there are any additional opportunities for collaboration.
