OFC Remembers Beefeaters Hall of Fame Coach Gooder

The OFC community is deeply saddened by the loss of London Beefeaters Hall of Fame Coach Bob Gooder. Gooder passed away on January 18th following a prolonged health issue. Gooder coached the Beefeaters from 1980 - 1983, and played a pivotal role in the survival and success of the franchise during his tenure. Gooder earned the OFC Coach of the Year Award in 1980 and 1981 and was inducted into the Beefeaters' Hall of Fame in 2022. Gooder’s son Kevin also played for the Beefeaters in the 1990s.

Gooder’s football journey was deeply rooted in London, where he served as the high school football coach at Sir Wilfrid Laurier S.S. and Montcalm S.S. Gooder played high school football at the former Sir Adam Beck Collegiate Institute and later at Waterloo Lutheran University, now Wilfrid Laurier University.

Gooder also served as a coach in the London Minor Football Association in the 1960s and was an accomplished fastball player with local London teams. 

Bob is survived by his wife, Joanna, daughter Jane, son-in-law Roger, son Kevin, daughter-in-law Tammy, two granddaughters as well as brothers Jack and Gerry.
