Saints add two new Coaches

Saints add two new Coaches

Tim Holden

The St. Clair Saints Football program is pleased to announce two familiar faces to the coaching staff. Matt Morencie and Jeremy Marchand will be joining the staff for the upcoming 2024 season as they help prepare the Saints for another OFC title defense. Both, Matt, and Jeremy were highly decorated players and will serve as a tremendous help to the Offense and Defense.
On the Offensive side Matt Morencie will take over the reigns as the Offensive Line Coach.
Matt Morencie
5-year starter at the University of Windsor
2-time OUA All-Star OL
2009 First Team All-Canadian
2009 JP Metras award winner (top-down lineman in Canada)
4-year team captain
21st overall pick in the 2009 CFL draft
2010 East-West Shrine game participant
Head Coach Mike Lachance celebrated “Matt brings several years of experience as a CIS and CFL player. He also returns to the staff following a handful of years away from the team. Welcome back Matt!”
On the Defensive side Jeremy Marchand will join Coach French as a Defensive Lineman Coach.
Jeremy Marchand
6-year starter for the Windsor AKO Fratmen (CJFL) and 5-year team captain
5x OFC All-Star at 3 different positions (WR, DL and LB)
1999 Canadian Bowl Champion
2002 OFC DL of The Year
3x AKO MVP
5x All-Star at St FX University at 3 different positions (WR, RB and DL) and 5-year captain
2X St FX MVP
“His experience as a player with AKO, and with St FX will serve him well in his new role. Jeremy also rejoins the staff after a few years away from the team. Just like Matt, Jeremy will bring unbridled enthusiasm to the team,” said General Manager Mike Morencie.
Also, the Saints Football team would like to congratulate Coach James Rice on his new role as Recruiting Coordinator and Offensive Analyst. As the Recruiting Coordinator he will oversee all aspects of recruiting, scouts from local to afar will report directly to James. As the Offensive Analyst he will maintain and organize the offensive playbook, while also assisting in game planning, advanced scouting of opponents, and oversee film breakdown.
“Coach Rice has a ton of experience as a head coach, offensive coordinator and offensive line coach and all will be valuable assets in his new role” said Coach Lachance. The St. Clair Saints Football program is pleased to announce two familiar faces to the coaching staff.
